Roman Nepomyashchy is a musician of many faces: a classically trained clarinetist and conductor, he studied at the Kherson College of Music and the Kharkiv Academy of Culture. But while his education gave him a solid foundation in traditional music, Roman’s creative spirit has always looked far beyond the academic stage. Since his youth, he has been immersed in Ukraine’s vibrant club culture—partying, DJing, and producing remixes under the name DJ Nero since 1997.
Blending a deep love for electronic music with a strong connection to his Ukrainian heritage, Roman’s work reflects a unique mix of styles and influences. His early experiments with saxophone, clarinet, and synthesizers evolved into full-fledged electronic compositions, with his debut album Dolce released in 2005. Over the years, he has built recording studios in Kherson, Kharkiv, and Kyiv, collaborating with prominent Ukrainian artists such as Maruv, NK, Dorofeeva, Vremya i Steklo, Potap, Pianoboy, and others.
His most recent solo project, Amorius, launched in February 2022, reflects a desire to create even in times of uncertainty. The project’s debut release, Ethno Code, showcases Roman’s signature fusion of styles, weaving traditional Ukrainian instruments like bandura, cymbals, and flute into contemporary electronic textures. He also experiments with unconventional sound sources, such as the ticking of a hotel room clock, turning everyday moments into rhythmic inspiration.
